Exploring Second Life was a great experience! As I created my avatar and explored my surroundings, I thought of some ways Second Life can be used in the ELA classroom.
Teachers can create virtual field trips for students to complete research. Students can explore famous landmarks, geographic locations, or animal habitats on SL and gather information for a research project. They can then write their reports based on the research they gathered in the SL virtual setting. For example, learners can explore a virtual forest to learn about the different ecosystems there, fill out a graphic organizer with their research finds, and then write a book about and ecostystem and the species living there. Teachers can also use Second Life to promote collaboration among students. Students can interact with each other virtuallu and work together.

Wow, great Idea for how teachers can use second life in the classroom! Using Second Life as a base for research projects and assignments will definitely engage the students and make the research come alive.
