With the widespread use of the Internet, incorporating "new literacies" in the classroom has become every teacher's responsibility. The term, new literacies refers to the learning and comprehension skills required by the Internet and ICTs. Technology has become a part of out students' lives, and we need to be able to prepare students to adjust to the new litercay demands, since technological know-how is imperative for day-to-day life, and especially for the workforce. By using Internet resources, communication applications, and innonvative text formats, new literacies can become a part of daily learning. Integrating ICTs, or information and communication technologies may not be easy but has many benefits. With the help of professional development and faculty initiative to incorporate new literacies, teachers can transform their classrooms from traditional learning environments to advanced learning centers. Besides for preparing students for college and the workforce, the implementation of new literacies in the classroom engages students and motivates them to learn.
